Sleepy Boy

After five nights of not sleeping very well (thanks to a nasty cough/cold and teething) Caleb's lack of sleep really caught up to him. After his bath last night, we used some Orajel PM for the first time. It's just a little stronger than the normal stuff and is now our most favorite baby product. It instantly relaxed Caleb and by the time I finished putting baby lotion on his first leg, he completely passed out! I continued to cover him with lotion, put Vicks on his chest, put on a onesie, and put on his pjs. He slept through that entire process! When I picked him up to comb his hair, his head just flopped forward on my shoulder. Indeed, this was one sleepy boy....and thankfully he decided to finally sleep through the whole night again!

I Caved!!!

This weekend, we welcomed a new addition to the Sturm home. It's something I always said we'd never have, but somehow I caved this weekend. We bought a recliner....yep, a recliner. I'm not opposed to the extreme comfort that a recliner provides. In fact, it's because they are so comfy that I've never wanted to have one for the fear that my husband would a) fall asleep the instant he sat in it and b) never sit and snuggle with my on the couch again! The reason I caved was simply because of a sick child. Caleb had a horrible cold and cough this weekend. He barely slept and as a result, we barely slept. I kept thinking how nice it would be to have a place to sit, hold him upright, and get sleep (for him and us). Well, that of course led to a discussion about how practical a recliner would be, which led to the decision to go and "just look" at them, which led to the purchase of one. Although I don't really like the look of recliners, I put aside my decorating dilemma and settled for a recliner that isn't the most aesthetically pleasing, but is quite comfortable. Since coming home, it has provided many hours of relaxation and several good naps for the various members in our family...even Chesney has grown to like it quite a bit!

Best Buds

One of the first things we thought about when we found out we were pregnant was how our first "baby" would handle the adjustment. Now, over a year and a half later, we've discovered that Chesney is the best "big sister" for our little guy. She totally watches out for him, runs to his rescue at the first sound of a whimper, and has a ton of patience for all of his chasing and tugging. Caleb also loves to play with Chesney and it seems to us that having a dog is the cheapest and easiest form of entertainment for a 9 month old! All in all, it's been a great joy to watch our two babies become best buds. By the way, the best part of this last picture is the fact that Tyler is totally passed out in the background. This is a typical weekend morning at our house!!!

SNOW!!!

This weekend we've had non-stop snow in Chicago. It has been one of those beautiful snowfalls where it comes down at a steady pace and slowly coats the ground. Of course we had to take Caleb out to enjoy the winter weather. He didn't quite know what to think of it at first. His favorite part was chasing the dog around and tossing snow on her!
We're excited about the days when we can actually take him out for long afternoons of sledding. There is a small retention pond across from our house. The hill, of course, isn't anything too thrilling, but it will make for some good memories nonetheless!

Caleb and Dash

This past week I got the chance to watch my Godson, Dash, while his mommy went to the doctor. I was so excited to get to spend some quality time with him for a few hours. It was an eye opening experience to have two babies at once! For the first hour or so they both took naps, so that was peaceful and easy. When they were both awake, however, it was a little more hectic. Between bottles, diapers, tummy time, crawling, and all the other fun stuff that goes along with babies, I had my hands full. It was so much fun to watch the two interact. It makes me feel like my baby is so old when he's around an even younger baby. I just can't believe Caleb has already gone through all those stages of infancy and he's turning into a little boy. I love having Dash to see all those stages just one more time. I guess this is just a sign that Caleb will definitely need to have a little brother or sister sooner than later!
