At our old church in Minooka, we were lucky enough to have a great small group with some other couples around our age. It was great to have other Christian people to grow close with at the beginning of our marriage. After leaving Minooka and looking for a church closer to home, we spent about six months at a church about five minutes from our house. We really enjoyed it, but had a very hard time getting connected to a small group. The ironic part of the situation is that particular church had several pastors (one of which was a "pastor of connections"). His primary job was to get people connected. Although he linked us with a few people, we actually got a response at one point that their group was simply "too big for anyone else to join". After half a year of trying to get connected and ultimately feeling totally distant from the church, we decided to start hunting again for the right fit.

Small Group
We are so blessed to have found Hickory Creek Community Church, which is also only about ten minutes from our house. It's a much smaller church than what we were used to, but is filled with some amazing people! Right away we got connected into a small group (which was also "too big", but they gladly welcomed us with open arms). Since January, we have met just about every Tuesday night with this awesome group. It's such a unique blend of young, old, married, single, and so forth. Together, we have studied the Old Testament book of Joshua and have learned so much through our time with everyone. It has been a huge answered prayer to find fellowship and we are so thankful that God allowed us to meet this great group of people. This past Tuesday, we wrapped up our study for the summer and are taking a break. We will definitely miss hanging out each week, but look forward to getting together a few times to hang out this summer.
