Pinewood Derby 2016

What do you get when you have a daddy who loves his little girl more than almost anything and also loves to win more than anything? You get the Girl Scouts Pinewood Derby 2016 champion!

I signed Tyler and Leah up for this event several months ago because I thought the "He and Me" event was a great idea. It's always great for the kids to get special time with just Daddy. Leah was looking forward to it simply because she got Daddy to herself, but Tyler had bigger plans! He spent hours researching and perfecting Leah's car before they painted it pink and added flower stickers to get it just right for race day.

On race day, I was shocked to see the excitement on both of their faces when they got home from the Daisy portion of the race. Out of all the Daisies, Leah's car was the fastest! She then had to go back later that evening to race the winners from the other age brackets and won that race too! I'm so thankful for a husband who puts 110% effort into everything he does. I know Leah and her brothers will learn to appreciate that as time goes on as well!

Sick of Sickies

We managed to have a pretty healthy start to our winter, but the Sturm home has been slammed with sickness lately. We've taken turns swapping colds and coughs, but nothing that has kept us from school and other happenings.

Until the most recent virus hit us. It started with Caleb and thankfully only hit two others in the house. Caleb had a few stomach problems for several days and had a low temp that came and went. As soon as he was better and back at school, Leah ended up spending about 12 hours battling it with a low fever (and thankfully no stomach problems aside from having a loss of appetite). The last to go down was Mommy, but it also only last for about 12 hours.

As you can see from the pictures, we make the most of sickness and love having an excuse to stay in our jammies and relax all day. The extra bonus this time was having one of our favorite furry friends with us because Grandpa and Grandma were gone on vacation!
