It doesn't seem possible that Joel is old enough for preschool. Something about being the baby of the family makes him just seem so little. No new phase that he enters seems like it should be happening as quickly as it is. He is still the baby that asks to rock and snuggle! There is just no way he can be ready to leave me for two hours each week! Yet, he is totally ready to leave me for two hours each week. He has been talking about it all summer and can't wait to finally be like the big siblings that he admires so much. After all, backpacks are pretty much the coolest thing ever and now he gets to have one all to himself! In fact, he wore it for an entire half hour at home before we even left for school :)
As a side note, there are two quite memorable moments from his first day of preschool - not proud mama moments - but worth remembering down the road.
1. When I went in to wake Joel up and get ready for school, he rolled over, laid back down, and said, "No, I'm sleepy mama. Leave me awone (alone)"! Seriously, you're two and a half dude!
2. I picked Joel up from preschool and found out that he was so preoccupied with playing that he POOPED in his underwear! Thankfully this is my third kid at that preschool, so I wasn't terribly mortified because I know the teachers quite well and know that they have seen it all. Looks like we'll be doing pullups for the next few preschool days until he gets over the excitement of all the new, fun stuff to play with! Seriously, you've been potty trained for six months dude!
What is your name? J-O-E-L (he spelled it)
