One of my favorite things about Caleb is the fact that he's a smart kid and does well in school, but he never gets prideful about it. One day, his teacher emailed me to let us know that he'd be representing his class in the 4th grade geography bee and that we were welcome to come watch it. I was shocked because he hadn't mentioned anything about it. When I had the chance to ask him, he totally brushed it off like it wasn't a big deal. It turns out, he beat out his entire class for this spot and we were super proud of him...perhaps all those hours spent in front of the TV watching "educational shows" and documentaries (like he knows we prefer, as he often gains himself extra couch potato time by requesting such programs) have paid off. And, though he didn't win, we really enjoyed watching him compete and were super pleased that one of his best buds was the overall 4th grade champ! I told the boys the day before that as long as one of them took home the gold, I'd be happy!
