It's been quite an eventful holiday season for our family. Looking back on the December calendar makes me realize why I felt SO exhausted at the end of every single day. I knew that I would blink my eyes and the month would be over, but WOW did it go fast! It's hard to believe that the new year is upon us and BIG, BIG changes are coming soon. It was great to spend so much quality time as a family of four this past month. Our kiddos loved all the fun, attention, and spoiling....hopefully it was enough to last them through the next few months of neglect!
At the beginning of the month, we got to take a trip on the Polar Express. Grandma, Grandpa, TiTi, Nana Pam, and Madelyn all joined us for the hour trip to and from the "North Pole". Caleb was incredibly excited to ride, as he knows the story very well. Leah was just in awe due to the fact that this was her first train ride. We all had fun on the ride, until the very end when Santa came to say hi on the train. Leah wanted NOTHING to do with him and clung tightly to TiTi. We spent the rest of the Christmas season hearing, "I don't wike Santa Cause".
The Lamont family got together for our annual cookie decorating day. It was so fun to hang out and share this tradition with the kids. They both had fun and consumed more than enough sugar within just the first 10 minutes of decorating!
We managed to sneak away for a weekend with Grandma, Grandpa, and TiTi to Lake Delavan in Wisconsin. There is a lodge up there that we used to go to annually and haven't been back to in quite some time. It was a very peaceful, relaxing weekend and we all had fun just hanging out. The kids spent time running the halls, swimming, playing in the game room, watching Christmas movies, and decorating a gingerbread house. We also ate plenty of yummy meals and had brunch with Santa.
After all the fun and craziness, I feel like I need at least another month to sit, rest up, and get ready for what's coming. Somehow there is just never enough time, but at least the time we have is filled with so much joy and so many blessings! We hope everyone reading this has had a chance to sit back and reflect on what a precious time of year this is. Happy New Year to you all :)
